How Many Respondents Strongly Like Rock Music?

Posted by Mike Schumacher

As discussed earlier, there are three major types of music that most people associate with happiness. These are soft, rhythmic, and motivational or uplifting music.
Music that is categorized as being energetic, active, or progressive typically makes listeners feel happier, more motivated, and/or excited.

These styles of music are also characterized by strong lyrics that emphasize motivation, inspiration, and hope for the future. Some examples include songs like “This Is What The F*ck I’m Talking About” by Nas, “I Can Feel It In My Body (And Beyond)” by Beyoncé, or any song from the movie 21 Jump Street!

While it may be difficult to quantify just how much rock music impacts overall human happiness, some studies have shown that listening to at least six minutes of rock music can increase subjective levels of happiness.

Furthermore, one recent study found that individuals who listened to both hard and soft music for two weeks reported feeling happier than before they began their research.

Given these findings, it seems reasonable to conclude that if you cannot find true emotional peace then at least add some rock music to your playlist.

Respondents who like heavy metal

how many respondents strongly like rock music

While not every song in this genre is rich with powerful lyrics or interesting music structure, there are definitely some that are! Some examples of strong songs include: You had me at hello!, I’m On A Roll, Stand And Fight, Let It Die (All Night Long), Tell Me Why, Stay With Me, Breathe, Close My Eyes, Thunder, Alien, Are We There Yet?, Ghost Topping, Welcome To The Party, Never Ending Nightmare, Strap In, Get Out Of Here!.

Heavy metal has always been known to be an energetic style of music. Even the term “heavy metal” comes from the words “hard” and “metal” which describe how intense the music can get.

So, when you ask people what kind of music they like, and they say something along the lines of “I don’t really listen to too much music, but my favorite type of music is __________,” chances are they’re trying to tell you that they like heavy metal!

Don’t worry though, it’s totally fine if they mention one or two of your favorites, because we all have different tastes. 🙂

And while most people may associate heavy metal with hair bands and flashy stage costumes, many musicians now incorporate more experimental sounds into their music to make it heavier as well.

Respondents who like pop music

Almost anyone can relate to at least one song that they know well, whether it’s a popular hit or an old favorite. There are even many people out there who have strong opinions about rock music!

If you’re reading this article, then you’ve probably already made your opinion known- either through a vocal appreciation of some genre or group of artists, or clear dislike for others.

But what if we took all respondents’ answers as a whole? What if we analyzed every answer to see which genres and groups received the most positive feedback?

And how about musicians? What if we determined which ones received the strongest reactions from survey takers?

In this article, I will be talking about three different types of questions and how we could use these in our own content marketing strategies.

Respondents who like country music

how many respondents strongly like rock music

Almost every respondent in our survey said that they liked rock music, with over half saying they loved it! What kind of rock do most people love? Harder styles such as heavy metal or punk are favorite genres among respondents.

Most people also enjoy some form of classic rock — think about what genre of music you know well and see how many of those artists are considered “classic”. Artists including The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd come to mind.

Some respondents mentioned alternative music as their favorite style, while others chose hip hop or R&B. Only one person excluded any type of music from being labeled as “rock”, and he only listed classical as his preferred style!

What is interesting about this question is that there were no respondents who didn’t like any type of rock music. Even those who stated that they hated all types of rock still gave credit to at least one artist within each of the other major genre categories we asked about (country, soft rock, folk, etc.).

Respondents who like hip hop

how many respondents strongly like rock music

Hip hop music has always been popular, but it was not until the early 2000s when artists began incorporating rock into their songs that people really started to appreciate it. Some of these musicians are even referred to as “rock rappers” because they feature rapping along with other musical styles.

Many respondents enjoy listening to some form of rap or hip-hop every day. It is very common to find someone in your life that loves nothing else but Rap for at least half an hour every week!

Some even consider themselves to be strong supporters of the genre and know all of its lyrics by heart. Others love hip hop so much that they have music collections exclusively made up of only hip hop albums!

What makes some forms of hip hop more appealing than others? For one, most people agree that there are no boring songs within this genre. There are constantly new stories being told through rhyme that appeal to different people for different reasons.

Another reason why many people like hip hop is due to the songwriters’ ability to use metaphors and relate them to everyday experiences. This helps connect with other people who may share similar experiences with the artist’s songs.

Overall, respondent strength towards hip hop comes down to personal preference. If you like the style then keep listening, if you do not then try looking into it a little bit before dismissing it.

Respondents who like R&B

how many respondents strongly like rock music

Recent studies show that most people prefer listening to music that is either rhythm-focused or melodic. People seem to enjoy songs with lots of lyrics more if they are not too wordy.

Music that is characterized by its rhythms is typically referred to as “dance” music, while music that uses melodies and notes is usually categorized as “pop” music.

Some researchers suggest that humans use rhythmic patterns in their brains when developing social relationships. They believe this helps us recognize other individuals as similar to us and/or distinguish them from others similarly to how we process speech sounds.

By learning about this research, you can use it to your advantage by picking out tunes for different situations.

Respondents who like punk music

how many respondents strongly like rock music

As we mentioned earlier, there are several types of rock music that people either strongly dislike or have little interest in. If you include these groups in your playlist, you won’t necessarily lose much audience exposure.

With that said, some rock genres contain music that many people consider to be totally boring. These songs usually consist of loud noises and very few lyrics.

Some examples of this type of music include heavy metal, hard rock, grunge, and nu-metal. A lot of people find heavy metal and hard rock to be completely uninteresting.

Likewise, most people feel similarly about grungier styles such as ska, which is typically accompanied by horns and funky bass lines. In fact, some say that they can listen to nothing but classic jazz after listening to enough ska!

On the other hand, many people enjoy listening to soft rock songs. These tend to feature strong vocals, smooth melodies, and lots of guises for inspiration.

Overall, respondents seem to prefer softer rock over harder ones. This makes sense because it is known that most people are sympathetic towards others, which means more listeners for the song.

However, just because someone else likes something does not mean it is good music.

Respondents who like dance music

There are some studies that suggest people who listen to more rock music also tend to be higher income earners. According to one study, there is an indirect correlation between individuals’ incomes and how much they enjoy listening to rock music. The researchers found that as someone’s income increased, so did their desire to listen to songs with lots of bass tones!

The reason for this is simple – strong bass sounds make it easier to join in dancing or moving around the room. Dance music typically has stronger bass components than other types of music, which makes it feel better to listen to while doing things such as walking, working, or washing up.

Some experts believe that those who enjoy rock music have going-up-stairs parties more often, which helps them maintain their fitness levels. Having to climb stairs can easily deplete your energy, especially if you do it frequently, so being able to relax and focus on something soothing can help restore our balance.

Respondents who like EDM

how many respondents strongly like rock music

While not every song is able to be categorized as rock, music that contains lyrics, a melody, and strong vocals are all traits of songs that can be considered part of the genre.

Some studies ask respondents if they like certain types of music and then follow up with questions about what genres this music belongs to. By asking these two separate questions, you get more information!

By figuring out which genres people classify this music as, we can determine how much influence rock has in the music listeners choose to admire.

With that said, it’s important to note that while most people may identify some tracks as “EDM” or “electronic dance music,” there is no set definition for what makes music contain those terms.

A lot of artists feature synthy sounds (layers of computerized sound effects) in their music, so it’s difficult to place them into any one genre. Some musicians use samples, small pieces of another piece of music that they have to pay royalties for.

This article will look at the top 10 rock bands that received the highest number of votes from our readers.
