The Evolution Of Jam Addict: Our Journey And Future Plans
Posted by Mike Schumacher
Jam addict is a family-run business based in London. The company was founded in 2010, by two sisters: Sophie and Rosie Heffernan. Since then, the company has grown to include their mother, Pip Heffernan, as a full-time jam maker.
Jam addict is well-known for their unique and creative flavors as well as their outspokenness on social issues. The Heffernan sisters are very passionate about equality so they use this passion to promote awareness through their jams.
This is showcased through their “feminist” jam which contains shredded copies of the anti-discrimination law, the Equality Act. By doing this, they are reminding people that we still have issues with discrimination and we need to work together to solve this problem.
Another one of their popular jams is the “gay cake” jam which contains rainbow sprinkles and represents support for the LGBT community.

Jam Addict was not born out of a desire to start a business or make money. In fact, we started out as friends who made jam together once a month for our friend group to enjoy. our
We had so much fun making jam together that we decided to market our jams and see who wanted to buy them. Once people started buying them and enjoying them, we decided to expand our offerings!
As we began expanding our offerings, we realized that having quality ingredients and recipes was the most important part of the business. Having high quality ingredients draws in more buyers and buyers that like the taste of the product will come back for more.
Starting a business can be scary, but don’t let that stop you! Figure out what you are good at, what people want, and offer them that.
How we started our business
Jam addict was originally created as a way to sell jam. Initially, we had no plans to grow the business beyond that point, but as we got more involved in the community and grew as business women, we realized there was so much more we could do.
As we began developing our brand and marketing ourselves, we learned about other businesses and how to work with them to grow our own. We also learned how to market our brand effectively through social media and craft fairs.
We decided to open up our business to sellers on October 1st, 2018, after months of planning and developing policies and procedures. It has gone incredibly well and the community has been really supportive!
Our biggest goal for the future of the business is to continue growing it while staying true to our values.
Lessons we’ve learned along the way
As we’ve grown as business owners, we can say that the most important thing is to keep it real. Be honest with your followers about what’s going on behind the scenes and how that affects your business.
By being open and sharing your struggles, your followers will have more respect for you and your brand, and will stay loyal. They will also be more likely to promote for you when needed, because they trust you.
It’s easy to get caught up in the numbers and what people say, but at the end of the day, do what makes you happy and what is best for your business. If people want to buy from you, then they will – don’t stress too much about it!
You don’t have to post every little thing that goes on in your business on social media – keep some things private if it doesn’t pertain to the public.
And last but not least, take a few minutes each day to de-stress and focus on yourself.
What’s next for Jam Addict?
Over the years, Jam Addict has expanded its offerings to include jams, preserves, and compotes. As well as introducing new fruit flavors, including tropical fruits like pineapple and mango.
New packaging options have also been explored, with the introduction of glass jars and plastic packaging for individual servings. Future plans include continuing to add more variety in fruit offerings and experimenting with different recipes and flavors.
Some future goals include growing the business to reach a point where it can be passed down to other family members who are interested in taking over or selling it. Or, eventually selling it to someone who will carry on the Jam Addict name and quality.
As the world becomes more aware of the negative effects of plastic use, Jam Addict will look into more environmentally friendly packaging options.
